What We Do
OKA+ provides schools with ongoing professional development, an intricate network of support, and an active research component. We coach schools through a process to create an educational environment that gets kids excited about learning and produces better achievement. We do this by preparing teachers and principals to think more creatively about how to present their curriculum in collaborative and hands-on ways.
Research is one leg of the three-legged stool that we often use to describe the network.
Researchers work with OKA+ to provide data and evidence that guide programming improvements including the development of tools to help school self asses their progress and identify areas of need which we address with on-site customized professional development.
This work has resulted in a five year research study and individual annual reports which can be found at the bottom of this page. In addition to this work you will find an independent research study and annual state level data.

The improvements extend beyond test scores and academic achievement. Students are more engaged and excited about learning, which leads to better attendance, fewer discipline problems, and happier and more joyful students and teachers.
We do this by preparing teachers and principals to think more creatively about how to present their curriculum in collaborative and hands-on ways. Research demonstrates that the level of engagement for schools is driven by principal, leadership, faculty engagement, and professional development. The more integrated and committed the school is with the OKA+ Schools model, the better the outcomes and higher the sustainability.
